A Community Development Officer, (CDO) in Tororo district has been arraigned before court and remanded to Morukatipe government prison on charges of Theft and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
Asangai David who was earlier arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit was paraded before the Chief Magistates Court Tororo on Thursday, 6th March, 2025.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that carried out the investigations, Asangai and others still at large in 2023, conspired and stole millions of Shillings meant for the elderly under the SAGE program within different sub counties in Tororo and Busia districts.
Furthermore, the accused are also being investigated for the theft of funds that were meant for the Peace, Recovery and Development Plan project in 2022 in Tororo district.
The Chief Magistrate remanded Asangai until 19th March, 2025 when he will re-appear before court for mention of his case and possible bail application.
