Sironko District on Monday, 10th March, 2025 embarked on a Shs900 million installation of irrigation machines for farmers across four sub-counties.

The project, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries, aims to support farmers growing crops like tomatoes and cabbage.

Francis Nabugodi, Sironko’s District Agricultural Officer, confirmed to our reporter on Monday that the installation of irrigation machines has commenced in the 4 sub-counties of Buwasa, Buwalasi, Sironko Town Council, and Bukise.

He encouraged the public to embrace this initiative, highlighting its potential to enhance household income and food production in the area.

Beneficiaries; Sarah Mudenga and Stephen Wagwimbi, from Sironko Town Council, requested that the district provide free services in case of future mechanical issues.

They expressed gratitude for the project, citing its potential to improve food production and incomes.

Notably, ten farmers from each sub-county were selected for this phase, with each required to pay 25% of the costs, while the government covers 75%.

This initiative aligns with efforts to promote agricultural development and food security in the region.
