The Meteorological Services under the Ministry of Water and Environment has issued an ‘Alert’ warning of impending wind gusts in North and Northern Uganda districts.

A wind gust or just gust is a brief, sudden increase in the wind speed. It usually lasts for less than 20 seconds.
The Wind gusts that are slowly but surely building up in Northern Uganda and moving towards the East are expected from late afternoon of today, Thursday, March, 13th 2025.
According to a statement issued today by the Ministry of Water and environment, currently strong winds in Northern Uganda are moving at 10knots but are expected to escalate to 20knots.
Areas expected to be most affected are Northern Uganda districts and probably North East with residents in those areas advised to be alert as the wind gusts are expected to blow off roofs, uproot trees and cause structural damages.
The increase in the wind gusts is attributed to isolated thunderstorms expected in Northern Uganda causing down drafts and updrafts. This however, is expected to subside deep in the night.
