A Laboratory Assistant attached to Bufuma Health Centre III located in Bufuma Sub County has been arrested on allegations of stealing medicines and medical supplies worth Shs15 million from the health center’s stores.

Bududa District Police Commander Hassan Musooba confirmed that Anthony M Koyola was arrested on Wednesday, 12th March, 2025 by officials from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

According to the District Police Commander, Koyola’s file has been sanctioned, and he is facing three counts of causing financial loss to government, abuse of office, and theft of medicines and medical supplies.

He adds that Koyola is expected to appear at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala today, Thursday, 13th March.

Patrick Nabutanyo the Bududa district acting public relations officer says a team from the State House Health Unit is investigating the matter and will take Koyola to Kampala for further prosecution.

He warned civil servants against stealing government funds and medicines, stating that those found engaging in such behavior will be arrested and prosecuted.

This incident comes after two Bududa officials, Wakoko Kassim and Nakhaima Francis, were arraigned in court for mishandling Parish Development Model funds in Bududa District this year.
