Pan African Parliament (PAP) women are impressed with Ugandan MP Carol Kamusiime, commending her for the enthusiasm she has shown while steering their caucus on matters related to combating Gender-based violence.
While addressing the Pan African Parliament Women Caucus, Kamusiime urged national governments to amend laws supporting women, guaranteeing equal participation in decision-making processes and promoting their political, social, economic, and cultural rights.
Kamusime who’s a Pan African Parliament Representative from Uganda and also the 1st Vice President of the women’s caucus, made the remarks during the commemoration of the International Women’s Day which was held in Midrand South Africa from March7 to 11, 2025.
The activity was hosted by the Pan African Parliament and African Union Development Agency–NEPAD with the aim of creating an environment where women can flourish and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s development agenda.
The commemoration served as a platform for appreciation, dialogue, and reflection on the indispensable role of women in the continent’s development.
The event facilitated discussions on pressing issues concerning the empowerment and progression of African women, emphasizing the collaborative efforts needed to promote gender equality and women’s rights.
Themes such as women’s development, investment in their potential, and career guidance were explored through these discussions and that participants highlighted the necessity for increased investment in women’s development programs to ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities across all sectors.
