The territorial police in Buikwe District are investigating a case of murder by strangulation that occurred at Kasoga Village, along the Mehta Sugarcane access routes in Buikwe District.
It is alleged that on March 14, 2025, at around 5:30 am, the police received information from Kasasuka Tom that his nephew, Bateganya Ronald, had left his home in Busagazi Village, Najja Sub County, Buikwe District, the previous evening at around 6:00 PM with his wife, Kagoya Betty, in a Toyota Wish, registration number UBN 651P, heading towards Makindu.
At around 9:00 pm, Kasasuka received voice messages from his nephew stating that he had decided to kill his wife and intended to take his own life.
According to Kasasuka, his nephew accused his wife of engaging in extramarital affairs and claimed that she had previously planned to kill him by either hiring a guard or poisoning him.
Upon receiving this information, Kasasuka reported a case of disappearance. Several attempts were made to call Bateganya and his wife, but their phones remained off.
SP Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa region, says that the following morning, at around 8:00 am, the GISO of Najjembe informed CPS Lugazi about an abandoned vehicle found in Kasoga Village, with an unidentified woman’s body inside.
The suspect has been identified as Bateganya Ronald, the husband of the deceased. A search was conducted in the surrounding area to locate Bateganya, as there were suspicions that he may have committed suicide, but no trace of him has been found so far.
The deceased has been identified as Kagoya Betty, a resident of Busagazi Village, Busagazi Parish, Najja Subcounty, Buikwe District.
The vehicle (UBN 651P) has been recovered and is currently parked at CPS Lugazi, while the deceased’s body has been taken to Kawolo Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
