A 76-year-old woman, known as Esteri Agote Ikesa, has died after being assaulted by her daughter, Asio Rose, and granddaughter, Kayendeke, in Kateki village, Apopong sub-county, Pallisa district today Monday, 17th March, 2025.
The incident occurred when Ikesa demanded that Asio return two cows that had been sold to educate her children.
According to Moses Kitiyo Mwanga, the Bukedi North Region Police Commander, police report states that Asio and Kayendeke assaulted Ikesa, who later died while receiving treatment at Katekwan trading center clinic today afternoon
He says Asio has been arrested, while Kayendeke remains on the run.
Kitiyo says police have visited the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and conveyed Ikesa’s body to Pallisa General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
He adds that the findings indicate that Ikesa had a long-standing domestic dispute with her daughter over the cows, and that she was assaulted by the suspects.
The case is currently under investigation, with inquiries going on.
