The office of the Resident District Commissioner Bukedea has ordered the arrest of the Atirir Parish Development Model (PDM) Sacco chairperson for allegedly extorting money from the SACCO beneficiaries.
Suspect who’s currently detained at Bukedea Central Police Station was identified as Joseph Okou.
Okou was arrested today, Thursday, March 20, 2025 following complaints filed by the beneficiaries during an engagement meeting.
Richard Okiria, one of the beneficiaries says he was asked to pay a sum of 50,000/- shillings on 2nd, March 2024 in order to benefit but till now he has not got the money.
“This man called me on the phone when I was on site building asking me to pay money in order to benefit, I gave him money but I have been waiting to get PDM till now no money”, said Okiria.
Hajj Arafat Oyo, the Bukedea Assistant Resident District Commissioner, acknowledged his arrest.
“Our office received complaints from beneficiaries, so we decided to call for the meeting and we managed to arrest him”, said Oyo.
