Uganda Airlines has come out to clear the air regarding Social media rumours that its rights to operate flights to the United Kingdom have been cancelled.
In a press statement dated Sunday, 23rd March, 2025, Uganda Airlines rubbishes this rumour saying its Foreign Carriers Permit remains valid and has not been revoked.
“We are diligently preparing for the launch of our operations to Gatwick with the inaugural Flight scheduled for May, 18th 2025,” reads the statement in part.
Uganda Airlines officially announced the launch of direct flights between Entebbe and London Gatwick on Thursday, 20th March, 2025.
Speaking at the launch, Uganda Airlines CEO, Ms Bamuturaki, hailed the new route as a major milestone for the national carrier as it celebrates five years of operation.
“This route marks the end of our establishment phase and sets us on the course for long-term growth and expansion. It follows meticulous planning, preparations, and many setbacks, but finally, we are there,” she said.
The route will connect Entebbe International Airport to London Gatwick, and it will be Uganda Airlines’ third destination outside the African continent after Dubai and Mumbai.
Passengers boarding this flight route will enjoy a premium travel experience aboard the Airbus A330-800neo, featuring Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class cabins with world-class service.
Bamuturaki expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Ministry of Finance, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), and the British High Commission for their role in securing approvals for the route.
