An application filed by Faridah Nambi Kigongo, the NRM’s Flagbearer for the March 13th Kawempe North MP bye-election seeking a vote recount has flopped even before being heard.
Nambi represented by Atwijukire Dennis Advocates had filed the application at the Kawempe Chief Magistrate’s Court in Miscellaneous Cause No. 22/2025.
However, in a letter dated Tuesday, 25th March, 2025, Atwijukire writes to the Kawempe Chief Magistrate withdrawing the application.
“We have instructions from the Applicant (Nambi) to withdraw the Application. The 1st Respondent (Electoral Commission) has already gazzetted the 2nd Respondent (Nalukola) and so the application has been overtaken by events,” reads the letter.
Nambi had earlier written to the Electoral Commission on 21st March, 2025 seeking for a vote recount. Nambi lost to NUP’s Nalukoola who garnered 17,939 votes against her 9,058 votes as gazzetted by the Electoral Commission.
