BULAMBULI

Heavy rains in Bulambuli District have caused widespread destruction, with Bumufuni Seed School Classrooms and over 300 homes severely damaged.

The Wednesday rains which lasted for over three hours, left two classrooms at the school completely destroyed, leaving students without a place to study.

Affected residents say they have been forced to seek refuge with neighbors, as their homes were either destroyed or severely damaged.

They are now calling upon government to provide urgent assistance, including tents, to help them cope with the disaster.

Isaac Katenya, the area Member of Parliament, on Thursday, 27th March, visited the affected area to assess the situation.

He says he has plans to submit a full report to the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness for a response.

The devastating impact of the rains in Bulambuli District is a pressing concern, with reports indicating that landslides in the area have resulted in significant loss of life and property.

The district’s highland terrain makes it particularly vulnerable to landslides, and the recent heavy rains have only exacerbated the situation.
