Namisindwa District has denied allegations that it postponed interviews for heads of departments, including key positions like District Health Officer, District Engineer, and Chief Financial Officer.
The district had advertised these vacancies last month, attracting applicants for various roles and were shortlisted.
According to Emma Bwayo, a male councilor in Namisindwa District, the district allegedly held a secret meeting last week and resolved to postpone the interviews, which he deems unfair.
However, Grace Namukhula, the chairperson of the district’s service commission on Tuesday, 1st April, 2025, countered these claims, stating that the district has communicated to the Central government regarding the shortlisted applicants.
Namukhula explained that the Central government scheduled the interviews for Monday of next week, and has allocated officers to conduct the process.
She dismissed the allegations as false saying they are intended to tarnish the district’s reputation.
Geoffrey Timbit, the district’s assistant chief administrative officer, also denied the allegations, supporting Namukhula’s statement.
The controversy surrounding the interviews highlights the challenges faced by Namisindwa District in filling key positions.
The district has been criticized in the past for lacking substantively appointed heads of departments, with only one substantive head of department reported in 2024.
