A shocking incident has been reported in Budaka District, where a 14-year-old girl, known as Alice Namaja’s body was found dumped in nearby Bush at Nakatende 1 Cell, Bunyekero Ward, Naboa Town Council.
The incident occurred on April 3, 2025, at around 9:00 am, when Patrick Nabyama, the LC1 chairperson, discovered the body while grazing his cattle.
According to Moses Mwanga Kitiyo, the Bukedi North region police commander, according to preliminary investigations, the deceased had left her home on March 30, 2025, to attend Eid celebrations at Naboa Trading Center.
He says she was last seen with her friend, Fazira Namubai, also 14 years old, who reported that they had spent the evening together, returning home around 8:00 pm. However, instead of going back to her own home, the deceased stayed with Namubai.
Kitiyo adds that the next day, the two girls attended school together and later went to fetch water at a borehole. It was there that a boy only known as Bright allegedly picked up the deceased and took her away to an unknown location. Her body was discovered two days later.
Police commander says the police have launched an investigation into the suspected murder, visiting the scene, conveying the body to Budaka Health Center for a postmortem examination, and tracing Bright’s whereabouts. Statements have been recorded from relevant witnesses.
The authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The case is ongoing, with inquiries underway to apprehend Bright.
