A devastating fire incident occurred on Saturday, 5th April, 2025 at the residence of prominent businessman, Sam Simiyu in Lwakhakha Town Council, Namisindwa District.
Three people who have not yet been identified by security lost their lives in the blaze, which reduced their bodies to an unrecognizable state. They were relatives to Simiyu and also his home workers.
According to Julie Namara, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner, the police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
The incident happened on Saturday night while the victims were asleep. Despite efforts by the nearby police fire brigade team from Tororo, who responded promptly to extinguish the fire, it was too late to save the lives of the three individuals.
The RDC has urged residents to install fire extinguishers in their homes to prevent such tragedies in the future.
By the time of reporting, the three bodies had been handed over to their families for burial.
Other items destroyed in the fire include chicken, furniture, and other household belongings. The community is left to grapple with the shock and loss resulting from this tragic incident.
