Following the collapse of a road section at Buyala along Mityana Road on 16th April, the Minister of State for Works, Hon. Musa Ecweru conducted an inspection this morning.
Ecweru revealed after the inspection that emergency repairs are currently underway to restore full connectivity to traffic by the end of today, Saturday 19th, April.

Ecweru later also inspected the Mityana–Mubende Road and Mubende–Fort Portal–Bundibugyo Road, to assess the current condition as the Ministry arranges for the needed interventions to ensure convenient traffic connectivity.
This section of the Busega–Mityana highway collapsed at kilometre 12 in Buyala, causing significant disruption to traffic flow along one of Uganda’s key transport corridors.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Works and Transport, the structural failure was triggered by persistent heavy rainfall that has weakened the road infrastructure in the area.
Engineers were immediately dispatched to assess the extent of the damage and provide temporary traffic management solutions.
