A tragic incident was reported in Namisindwa District, on Friday, 18th April, 2025 where a body of a 7-year-old boy was discovered secretly buried in his father’s land.
According to reports, Joshua Khaukha was allegedly murdered by his father, Emma Khaukha, a 36-year-old carpenter from Bunyolo Village, Butiru Parish, Bukhabusi Sub County in Namisindwa District on a date not known but in the month of April.
Khaukha produced Joshua outside of his official marriage with a one Carol, and the child was being cared for by his maternal grandmother, only known as Anyesi.
In January 2025, Khaukha picked up Joshua, promising to take him to a better school, but instead, he allegedly confined him at his home.
Addie Rich, the DPC Namisindwa says community became concerned when Joshua went missing in April 2025. On April 15, Emma was seen leaving his home, sparking further suspicion especially because he was known for mistreating the boy.
He says a public concern was raised, and upon investigation, a heap of soil was discovered, leading to the finding of Joshua’s body buried in a grave on Emma’s land.
DPC adds that they discovered clothing with suspected bloodstains from Emma’s house.
He says they have to apprehend the suspect and that efforts are underway to trace and arrest Khaukha. The body will be exhumed and taken for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The authorities are committed to bringing the suspect to justice and ensuring a thorough investigation into this heinous crime.
