A Bus belonging to Pokopoko Company has overturned on the Mubende-Kyegegwa highway at Biwanga killing two persons on spot and leaving 12 others critically injured.
According to the Traffic Police Spokesperson, SP Michael Kananura, the Isuzu bus, registration number UBR 796N overturned at about 2:20PM on Monday, 21stth April, 2025.
He says preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle following a tyre burst, causing the bus to veer off the road and overturn.
The incident claimed the lives of 02 passengers (01 adult female and one juvenile female). Additionally, 12 others sustained injuries and were rushed to Mubende regional referral hospital for treatment.
Police urges motorists to prioritize vehicle safety before embarking on their journeys.
“Regularly checking tyre condition and ensuring that they are within the recommended expiry dates can significantly enhance safety on the roads,” advices Kananura.
