Manafwa District NRM leaders on Tuesday, 22nd April, 2025 introduced and endorsed a new candidate, Annet Musibukha, a former government social worker, to challenge embattled former Minister Gorret Kitutu in the upcoming NRM primaries.
Charles Walibwa Peke, Manafwa District NRM Chairperson, announced the endorsement, citing Kitutu’s involvement in an iron sheet scandal as a reason for the party’s decision to front a new candidate.
Walibwa expressed the party’s readiness to support Musibukha in the primaries and general elections instead of the Minister the same way they have been doing for the last two elections.
Musibukha stated her readiness to lead the district if elected, promising to focus on wealth creation, improving household incomes, and enhancing healthcare. She criticized the current woman MP’s involvement in scandals.
Gorret Kitutu, the incumbent Woman MP and former Minister for Karamoja Affairs, was unavailable for comment by press time.
Another candidate, Rose Mutonyi, is also vying for the same position.
