Disaster victims who were evacuated to different Internally Displaced camps at Bunambutye government resettlement area in Bulambuli district have been allowed to go back and vote from their original villages during NRM party primary elections which will start in June this year.

After the landsides that killed over 30 people at Buluganya sub county in Bulambuli district last year, the Office of the Prime Minister and Red Cross evacuated over 100 families from disaster prone sub counties like Buluganya, Soti among others in Bulambuli to different IDP camps at Bunambutye resettlement area.

While speaking to our reporter on Monday, 28th April, 2025, Denis Namisi, the Bulambuli district acting NRM registrar revealed that NRM members who are at the camps will be allowed to go back and vote from their villages.

He says during registration, those people were registered from their original villages so polling stations are not at the camps they are currently living in.

Paulo Kimamati, the Bulambuli district National Resistance Movement Party Chairperson urged the victims to feel free and contest for any party positions at their original villages.
