President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially welcomed Elon Musk’s Starlink Internet Service to Uganda in a meeting held at State House, Nakasero on Monday, 28th April, 2025.
Starlink representatives, Ben MacWilliams and Brandi Oliver, who were taken to the President by Ambassador Adonia and Ambassador Popp met the president in a productive meeting.
President Museveni welcomed the Internet provider saying he appreciates their commitment to providing low-cost internet in hard-to-reach areas and establishing a presence in Uganda.
Elon Musk’s satellite internet service by SpaceX, Starlink, applied for a license from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to operate in Uganda early in April, 2025.
From the rates Starlink charges in the neighbouring Kenya, it is expected that Company will charge Shs1,361,100 for a Standard Hardware Kit, with a mini kit at about Shs800,000.
Subscription is expected to be Shs120,000 for the mini kit and Shs190,000 for the Standard Kit per month.
