TORORO: Nine Candidates Challenge Fox Odoi in West Budama North East Race

Fox Odoi, the incumbent Member of Parliament for West Budama North East, is facing stiff competition ahead of the 2026 general elections.

 

Since the constituency’s creation in 2020, Odoi has held the seat, but growing dissatisfaction among residents has led to nine new candidates stepping forward to challenge him.

 

The challengers accuse Odoi of neglecting key issues, including poor road infrastructure, lack of clean water, and declining education standards.

 

Residents have voiced frustration over the deteriorating roads, which make transportation difficult, and the poor maintenance of boreholes, leaving many vulnerable to waterborne diseases.

 

Masial Ochieng, a local resident, expressed his frustration with the state of roads. The roads are in a very bad and terrible state as we are forced or cycle everywhere”. Ochieng Lamented.

 

Among the contenders is Ruth Oketcho, who has gained attention for leading community road repairs.

 

She has vowed to prioritize infrastructure development if elected.

 

Another candidate, Richard Owere Machika, is focusing on education and healthcare reforms, citing the constituency’s low academic performance and high maternal mortality rates as urgent concerns.

 

Other candidates include; Onyango Robert Magara, Mary Achom, Henry Owori, Osinde Owor, Ignatius Orach, Dennis Peter Ogandi and Vincent Odoi, each of whom is bringing their unique platforms to the political arena.

 

The race is expected to be highly competitive, with candidates actively campaigning to win over voters.

 

Fox Odoi, the incumbent mp , could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts to reach him.

 

As the election approaches, residents will be watching closely to see who can deliver on their promises and bring meaningful change to West Budama North East.
