A violent incident occurred in Musoto cell, Industrial City Division, Mbale City on Wednesday, 7th May, 2025, where a mob set fire to a house, injuring one person over allegations of motorcycle theft.
According to eyewitnesses, Peter Wanasolo was seen entering his house with a motorcycle, raising suspicions among locals.
John Masaba, LC1 Chairperson of Musoto cell, stated that Wanasolo’s actions aroused suspicion, leading locals to investigate.
Wanasolo fled, fueling speculation that he had stolen the motorcycle. George Khisa, a resident, claimed Wanasolo had a history of attacking boda boda riders with iron bars to steal their motorcycles.
The mob set fire to Wanasolo’s house, completely destroying it. His wife, Susan Nabutono, sustained burn injuries and is receiving treatment at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
The incident has sparked tension in the area, with authorities yet to intervene and apprehend the suspect.
By press time the suspect, Wanasolo, is currently on the run.
