MASAKA CITY: TotalEnergies EP Uganda Partners NFA to Restore Jubiya Central Forest Reserve

In a significant step toward environmental restoration and sustainable development, TotalEnergies EP Uganda & National Forestry Authority (NFA), have launched a tree planting initiative aimed at restoring 38 hectares of degraded forest within Jubiya CFR in Masaka City.

 

The initiative commenced today, 10th May, 2025, with the planting of 450 indigenous tree seedlings, marking the beginning of a long-term collaboration to regenerate forest cover, enhance biodiversity, and combat climate change.

 

The project aligns with Uganda’s broader vision of environmental resilience & complements the NFA’s strategic plan to green the country’s forest landscape.

 

At the launch, Ms. Nekesa Esther, NFA-Regional Manager expressed her appreciation for the support from TotalEnergies.

 

“This partnership exemplifies the kind of multi-stakeholder collaboration needed to restore Uganda’s natural resources. It supports our strategic objectives and reinforces our commitment to sustainable forest management,” she stated.

 

TotalEnergies, a global multi-energy company committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, reiterated its pledge to environmental stewardship through meaningful action. “Sustainability is at the core of our operations & reforestation initiatives. This are essential to achieving our climate goals while creating long-term value for communities and ecosystems,” said Total Energies a representative from the TotalEnergies team.

 

Juliet Mubi, the NFA-PRO emphasized that the partnership between TotalEnergies & NFA recognizes the private sector’s role in conservation. It underscores the importance of aligning corporate sustainability strategies with national & global climate targets.
