YY BUS INFERNO UPDATE! Bugisu Buries Senior Citizen without Body, Family Demands Answers

The grief of losing a loved one is usually comforted by giving the deceased a befitting burial.

However, the family of the late Manafwa District Service Commission Chairman, Jimmy Musimbi is even in deeper grief after they were forced to carry out a burial ceremony on Saturday, 10th May, 2025 without seeing the body of their loved one.

Interestingly, the family says their father’s phone, suitcase and spectacles were recovered at the scene of the accident at Makindu Village along the Kisoga-Nyenga Road in Buikwe District but not his body.

The situation has been compounded by a police report that says only three people died and 30 got injuries and were rushed to various Health facilities for treatment. Police has therefore not accounted for the missing Musimbi’s body since he is not among the three police confirmed as having died in the accident.

Following these an unanswered questions, Musimbi’s family led by his eldest son, Alex Musimbi has given YY Coaches Company only one week to provide their father’s body warning that they will sue if the Bus Company fails to do so.

Alex Musimbi told our reporter on Tuesday, 13th May, 2025 that out of the three people which police reported, the body of their father is not among them.

He says that they have tried to search everywhere but have failed to locate the remains of their father and yet police stated that bodies were only three.

Wilson Nandah, the Bishop of Mbale diocese has added his voice to calls for a forensic investigation into the accident to determine how many people died in the crash and how many were on board at the time.

He adds that a bus carries over 60 people but wonders how police reports that people who died are three and those injured are 30 without revealing those who were missing.

The Bishop says that the number of people who perished must be beyond the three that police reported.

Getting a comment from YY management by press time was futile after their office was locked and their phones were off.

On Monday, the Ministry of Transport and Works suspended YY buses from operating for 15 days pending investigations following two serious consecutive accidents.
