The President of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party has used very strong words to chastise the donation of seven calves to a section of Teso War Claimants by National Platform Unity Party.
The top leadership of NUP led by the Principal himself, Robert Kyagulanyi, Joel Ssenyonyi, John Baptist Nambeshe and others met a section of Teso elders on Tuesday, 27th May, 2025 at Soroti City.
During this meeting, NUP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the elders, proclaiming its commitment to the plight of Teso War Claimants.
According to Bobi Wine, the elders pledged to support NUP in its endeavor to remove the regime and embark on the process of rebuilding the nation.
To crown the day, NUP donated seven calves to a few selected elders.
“As a gesture of our commitment to their plight, we handed over seven calves to selected elders. The calves are a symbol of hope and a new beginning for themselves and their children. Very grateful to Hon. Julius Ocen and all organisers for the effort,” writes Bobi Wine on his X-Handle.
However, it is this donation that has rattled the Teso born politician who is currently in court over the cattle compensation issue.
In an X outburst, Patrick Amuriat Oboi (POA) says NUP should cut the, ‘Crab’ insisting that the seven calves donation to a people who lost thousands off cattle is a mockery.
“You can’t bring 7 calves to people who demand 1.5M cows. Those kind of tricks won’t work with us,” writes Amuriat.
Amuriat accuses NUP of playing cheap politics using “false agreements and playing mind games on our desperate elders,” adding that Bobi Wine does not understand, “the magnitude of the compensation situation.”
Undone with the outburst, Amuriat who advises NUP to play mature politics says the donation is, “the gist of the deception.”
“When you use a bait to lure a fish into a trap, the interest is not to feed the fish, it is to catch and cook it. Iteso are too wise for that. You can’t bring 7 calves to people who demand 1.5M cows. Those kind of tricks won’t work with us.” POA says.
Patrick Oboi Amuriat recently took to the Soroti City streets with MPs Jonathan Ebwalu and Alobo Joan to relaunch no cow no vote and were jailed for 5 days. They are re-appearing in Soroti Chief Magistrate’s court today for a fourth time over the same issue.
