State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Hon. Florence Nambozo, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament for Sironko District, has been formally nominated for the position of NRM District Chairperson for Sironko.
She is set to challenge the incumbent, Hajji Sulaiman Lumolo, who has held the position for the last 20 years.
Nambozo was nominated on today, Wednesday, 21st May, 2025 by the District Registrar Peter Mafabi at the party’s district headquarters. However, she was informed that the official signing of nomination forms will take place on Friday, after which the forms will be cleared for the final open campaign period.
By press time, only two candidates—Minister Florence Nambozo and Hajji Sulaiman Lumolo—had been nominated for the position. Nominations are scheduled to close on Friday morning.
Speaking shortly after her nomination, Hon. Nambozo expressed her commitment to uniting party members and strengthening NRM support in the district ahead of the 2026 general elections.
