BREAKING! Kaliro National Teachers College Principal Arrested Over Shs120M

The Office of the Inspector General of Government (IGG) in Jinja City has arrested the Principal of the National Teachers’ College in Kaliro District for causing financial loss to the government.

 

Ms. Lanyero Evelyn Grace aged 51 was arrested on Thursday, 22nd May, 2025 and will be formally charged at the Anti-Corruption Court today, Friday, 23rd May, 2025.

 

Lanyero is being accused together with her Principal Accountant, 54 year old Okiria Clement Epalat, for irregularly authorizing payment of Shs 120, 904, 000 to Ms Nissi Take Away and Restaurant for meals and refreshments for participants in an Information Communications Technology Retooling Workshop causing financial loss to government.

 

The According to the IGG’s Charge sheet, the duo in November, 2022 committed the offence knowing too well that they causing loss to government to the tune of Shs 120, 904, 000.

 

Meanwhile, Okiria, being the Principal Accountant at Kaliro National Teachers College, in November, 2022 irregularly processed payment of Shs12, 412, 698 as Withholding Tax to URA causing financial loss to government.

 

The two are also charged for abuse of office for irregularly obtaining a Shs45M loan facility from Stanbic Bank on behalf of Kaliro National Teachers College causing financial loss to government.

 

Her co-accused, Okiria is still at large.
