SOROTI CITY

Hon. Sanjay Tanna, the aspiring Chairperson of the NRM Entrepreneurs League, took center stage at the Belated NRM Day celebrations in Soroti Sports Ground with a message that rattled the crowd into reflection: “Let us stop the pull-him-down politics.”
Speaking before a sea of yellow supporters at the high-energy gathering, Tanna condemned the destructive vice of PHD “Pull Him Down” — politics, which he said was eating away at progress in Teso and Eastern Uganda.
“Let us not be like the Israelites who stoned Jesus at home. Let us not be like the Muslims who chased Muhammad from Mecca to Medina,” Tanna said, drawing spiritual parallels to stress the cost of betrayal from within. “We must protect the seats we have; the Speaker of Parliament and the Woman MP Bukedea Anita Among, the Vice President also the Woman MP Katakwi district, our ministers, and Captain Mike Mukula for Vice Chairperson Eastern Uganda.”
The event brought together top NRM brass including Minister of Works and Amuria MP Musa Ecweru, State Minister for Fisheries Hellen Adoa, and Minister of Information Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, who also serves as NRM’s Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda.
Tanna, a former two-term MP for Tororo Municipality and longtime businessman and former contender in the same position with Mike Mukula reminded the people of Teso of the rare opportunity they have under President Museveni’s leadership appointments at the highest levels — and urged them to shield and maximize those gains.
“To become a vice chairperson in NRM, you need support across 147 districts. I won the East and North but fell short nationally. As Easterners, we must rise above envy,” he said.
Tanna also praised Captain Mike Mukula for the immense turnout at the event, describing it as proof of the region’s loyalty and strength. He called on residents of Teso to fully support Museveni for continued peace and national cohesion.
