A daring robbery occurred on Thursday, 5th June, 2025 at around 7:30 PM in Nankone Village, Bwase Ward, Budaka Town Council.
The victim, Tinka Mugisha Vianney, a 26-year-old statistician, was attacked by three unknown men while approaching his home on a boda boda.
According to Wilfred Kyepasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the suspects, who were armed and wearing a green and black jacket, grabbed a navy blue bag containing valuable items, including three POS machines, a printer, office stamp, keys, record books, three phones, and cash amounting to UGX 3,566,000. The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be UGX 9,400,000.
He adds that the victim struggled to retrieve his bag, but the suspects threatened him with a gun, prompting him to flee to a neighbor’s house for help.
When the reporter, Katooko Joyce, and others responded to the scene, they found a dropped iPhone XS Max belonging to the victim.
Kyepasa says that police have launched an investigation into the incident, and a case of aggravated robbery has been opened (CRB BDK 201/2025). The scene was visited by detectives, examined, and documented. No arrests have been made yet, and inquiries are ongoing.
He says police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
