KATAKWI
Geoffrey Omolo, the LCV Katakwi, has officially announced his decision to join the National Resistance Movement NRM party after more than ten years with the Forum for Democratic Change FDC.
This disclosure comes after he declared interest and picked up an NRM nomination form in Kampala on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, officially entering the National Resistance Movement NRM party as a member.
In 2018, Omolo was elected as the LC3 chairperson for Getom sub-county under the FDC party, before becoming LCV Katakwi in 2021 on an independent ticket when Paul Ongoet was granted the flag.
According to Omolo, his membership was legally cleared by the NRM secretariat when he expressed a desire to participate in the NRM party primaries, which recognized him as a valid candidate once his requirements and academic credentials were met.
Omolo is optimistic that with the last four years in leadership, he has been executing the NRM manifesto, noting that several programs under NRM leadership have made him set a good foundation for Katakwi district, despite several setbacks such as paying debts, accounts garnish, court cases, low revenue collection, among others that he received from previous leaders, but he made it an achievement as the district is seen registering success in education, health, and road sector.
He emphasized that he has survived various hurdles and is now prepared to continue delivering in the next five years after transitioning to the NRM ruling administration.
