KAMULI
The Local Council Five Chairman of Kamuli district has died in a fatal road accident.
According to Patrick Onyango, the KMP Police Spokesperson, Maxwell Charles Mugude Kuwembula died in the accident that occurred today, June 12, 2025, at around 4:40 am in Nakifuma, Mukono District along the Gayaza – Kayunga road.
He was driving a Toyota Hilux when it collided with a stationary Sino truck.
Onyango says the accident involved two motor vehicles, UBR 835K (Truck) and UG 699M belonging to Kamuli Hospital.
Mugude according to sources was travelling to Kampala to pick nomination forms from NRM’s Electoral Commission.
The area OC Traffic, Loy Ziramuke confirmed the incident revealing that it occurred at about 5am in the wee hours of Thursday morning. She revealed that the departed LC5 boss met his death after his government double cabin pick up rammed into a stationed sinotruck.
She added that the deceased was personally driving a Toyota Hilux double cabin pickup truck belonging to the Ministry of Health which he has been using for the last four years .
His body was taken to Kayunga referral hospital for a postmortem while the wreckage of his car was towed to Nakifuma police station.
It’s reported that his vehicle’s engine compartment and windshields were shattered beyond detection.
Maxwell Kuwembula was serving his first term in office as Kamuli district LC5 boss and the Busoga NRM fraternity described him as a good leader saying his death is a big blow to the leadership of Busoga sub-region.
Meanwhile, several mourners in Busoga region are mourning the demise of Maxwell Kuwembula who died in a road accident before completing his first term in office. The late Kuwembula who was seeking for the second term in office is now no more.
