Relegated Uganda Premier League side, Mbale Heroes FC has announced open trials to recruit new players as they prepare for the 2025/2026 FUFA Big League season.

The announcement was made by the club’s communications officer, Michael Woniala, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, during a fans’ preseason meeting held at the club offices in Maluku.

Woniala said the trials are a key part of the club’s strategy to identify, develop, and recruit outstanding football talent.

“Anyone who believes they have the talent and qualities to play for Mbale Heroes is free to come and try their luck by showcasing their talent,” Woniala said. “Our intention is to ensure we return to the Uganda Premier League after this season.”

The trials will be held for the entire month of August at the Busamaga Playgrounds.

In addition to the trials, at least nine former players have already entered the club’s camp to intensify preseason training under veteran coach Richard Makumbi. The club is focused on rebuilding its squad with the goal of a quick return to the top tier of Ugandan football.
