ABIM: Panic as Over 400 Elephants Raid Residents’ Gardens

Residents of Abim district were thrown into panic when a herd of over 400 elephants from Kidepo National Park invaded their District.

 

According to Col. Chris Magezi, the UPDF Deputy Spokesperson, the incident took place on Friday August 1, 2025.

 

He says the local population was mostly worried of amidst widespread destruction of agricultural fields and farmland.

 

However, the UPDF promptly responded the following day, Saturday, by deploying helicopters that successfully drove back the marauding elephants to the Kidepo game reserve.

 

 

“The UPDF Airforce Decisive action to the threat of food security for the people in the area. Bravo!” says Magezi.
