Paul Musamali Mwasa, former legislator at East African Legislative Assembly who contested for the position of Member of Parliament in Bungokho South constituency, Mbale district during NRM Primaries has withdrawn an election petition he had filed.
Musamali filed the election petition against his three competitors, Geoffrey Wokuri, Robert Wandwasi and David Washale saying they rigged his votes during the recent concluded NRM primaries.
His petition was still under scrutiny by NRM Elections tribunal. However, through his lawyers, Masaba Advocates, Musamali on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, withdrew his petition.
Geoffrey Wokuri won Bungokho South election NRM primaries after getting 16,500 votes followed by Robert Wandwasi, the incumbent who got 5,400 votes. Paul Musamali came third with 5,200 votes, then David Washale got 4,642 votes.
Howver, the lawyers say Musamali is still making further consultations not only with NRM party but with people of Bungokho South before making his final decision in respect of the forth coming general election.
