A significant uproar unfolded among National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters in Kisoko Sub-county following the party primaries held on August 14, 2025.

On August 19, voters gathered at the sub-county headquarters, demanding a rerun of the elections amid serious allegations of results manipulation favoring candidate Patrick Osinde.

The contested race drew four aspirants, culminating in the declaration of Osinde as the victor by district registrar Joseph Kadoketch, who announced that Osinde had received 4,130 votes.

Incumbent Christopher Owor trailed with 1,699 votes. However, discontent has permeated the community as voters are accusing the NRM Electoral Commission chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, of orchestrating a flawed electoral process to favor Osinde.

Jane Auma, a frustrated voter, recounted her experience: “I arrived at my polling station at 7 AM, only to find police officers telling me to leave. The opportunity to vote was snatched away.”

Many in the crowd expressed similar sentiments, fueling accusations that the electoral process had been compromised.

Christopher Owor, the incumbent LC3 Chairperson added weight to these allegations, claiming that all sub-county registrars were summoned to Dr. Odoi’s residence, where they were allegedly pressured to complete declaration forms that were later used to announce the results.

“This is very bad for the party,” he declared, emphasizing the need for transparency and equity within the NRM.

As the protests escalated, demonstrators voiced their determination for a rerun of the elections, warning of a potential defection to other political parties if their grievances remain unaddressed.

They contested the legitimacy of the results, arguing that they were based on fraudulent declaration forms allegedly completed in a private setting rather than through a fair electoral process.

In a swift response, Dr. Tanga Odoi dismissed the allegations as unfounded and malicious, threatening legal action against those who participated in the protests.
