NAMISINDWA
A church building collapse in Namisindwa district has left several Christians injured. The incident occurred during a Sunday service at the Spiritual Born Again Church in Namutokholo II village, Bukokho parish, Bukokho sub-county on 24th August, 2025.
According to John Wafula, the LCIII chairperson of Bukokho sub-county, the church building suddenly collapsed in the afternoon, trapping worshipers underneath.
He says neighbors quickly responded to the scene and helped rescue those buried under the debris.
Wafula criticized the church’s pastor, Moses Namukowa Nakhwashe, for holding services in a dilapidated building, putting the congregation’s lives at risk.
Pastor Nakhwashe attributed the collapse to divine intervention, suggesting they had relied on God’s power to prevent the disaster.
However, the incident resulted in injuries to over ten people, all of whom are women. They are currently receiving treatment at Magale Health Center III, Bumbo Health Center III, and Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, with some suffering from broken limbs.
