A fatal road accident that occurred on 6th September 2025 at approximately 6:30 PM at Bulumagi Village along the Jinja–Kampala Highway in Buikwe District has claimed two lives.
SP Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson says the accident involved a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFB 800H, ridden by an unidentified rider (now deceased), who was carrying two passengers and a yet to be identified Toyota Hiace motor vehicle, which did not stop at the scene and is suspected to have been overtaking from the Kampala direction at the time of the incident.
The motorcycle was traveling from Jinja towards Kampala when it collided head-on with the Toyota Hiace, which was overtaking dangerously from the opposite direction and the motorcycle rider and one passenger died instantly at the scene.” Said SP Butoto
The second passenger sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Jinja Main Referral Hospital for medical attention.
By press time, the two bodies had been conveyed to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examinations as the injured passenger remains under medical care in critical condition.
The motorcycle involved in the accident is currently parked at Njeru Police Station, pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV) as efforts are underway to identify the victims and trace the Toyota Hiace involved in the incident.
SP Butoto called on the public to share any relevant information that may assist in the identification and apprehension of the driver of the Toyota Hiace involved.
