It’s reported that government promised over 20 SACCOS with over 500 members’seed capital support of 30 million as startup capital and 50 million for local leaders SACCOS. However, ever since the promise was made 3 years ago, they have never received anything from government. The said Saccos include; carpenters, taxi operators, Journalists, boda riders, Welders, Mechanics, and persons with disabilities among others.
A Sacco leader for Welders- Ismail Kizito says, they are so disappointed with the Microfinance support center and vowed not trust government with their votes in the 2026 polls.
A fortnight ago, a team of auditors from State House led by Mr. Milton Pedi Tumwine were in Entebbe Municipality to find out why the SACCOS have not accessed the Emyooga funds. However, the team was shocked to find that many SACCOS had not received the funds.
