Police in Jinja has dismissed the social media claims that have been making rounds that that the air conditioning unit serving the CCTV control room at Jinja Central Police Station (CPS) had been stolen under mysterious circumstances.
Addressing the media on Tuesday 16, September 2025, Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, SP James Mubi said the reports were “false and misleading.”
“The technical team conducted a scheduled maintenance exercise on all AC units at Jinja CPS on Monday, and the procedure was aimed at ensuring the improved performance of our CCTV systems.” Said Mubi
The reports brought back memories of a 2020 incident in which a flat-screen Television was allegedly stolen from the station’s reception area.
SP Mubi called on the public to disregard these false reports that taint the image of the police force.
