The Electoral Commission Chairperson,, Justice Simon Byabakama, has announced a change in the parliamentary nomination dates.

Speaking during the official opening of the new Electoral Commission headquarters located along Lweza–Entebbe Road, today Friday, 19th September, 2025 Byabakama revealed that the nomination dates have been moved from October 15–16, 2026, to October 22–23, 2025.

The EC Boss who also earlier announced a change in commencement of Presidential campaigns said these nominations will be conducted in respective Electoral areas.

Byabakama attributes the change to NAM activities that will be taking place in the country around the initial dates given and yet many MPs who are also prospective candidates for nomination shall be in attendance, so the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested the Commission to review nomination dates for MPs.
