Former 2016 presidential candidate and Conservative Party’s flagbearer, Elton Joseph Mabirizi has finally been duly nominated for the 2026 presidential race after resolving his documentation issues with the Electoral Commission.
Mabirizi had earlier in the day turned away over queries surrounding his academic papers that needed to be verified by the National council for Higher Education.
Mabirizi who complained of unfair treatment eventually rushed to the National council for Higher Education that verified his academic papers, He was nominated late afternoon, Tuesday, 23rd September, 2025.
He becomes the third candidate to be nominated after President Museveni, and Robert Kasibante and CP’s first ever Presidential candidate
