The NRM elections dispute tribunal has nullified Jacqueline Mbabazi’s victory as the party’s flag bearer for the Member of Parliament for Older Persons representing the Western region.
The committee’s decision made on 24th September, 2025 follows an appeal by Patrick Kyamukate Mutabwire against the wife of former prime minister, Amama Mbabazi whom he accused of being elected through a process that was marred with irregularities such as duplication of names, deceased individuals voting, and unjustified voter deletions.
According to the committee, it has been found that the certified register fixed the lawful maximum number of electors at 364, yet the Declaration of Results Form records 430 votes cast.
The anomalies uncovered, including 28 duplicate entries, 5 illegal replacements, and 3 deceased persons who also actively participated in these elections.
The committee revealed that the irregularities were both qualitative, going to the integrity of the register, and quantitative, inflating the total beyond the lawful ceiling.
It’s upon this background that the committee has nullified the results and ordered the Party’s electoral commission to organize a fresh election 14 days after this ruling.
