Police in Buikwe district on Saturday 27th September 2025 retrieved four bodies that had been covered by a hip of biogas carried on Mitsubishi Fuso truck Reg. No. UBK 622C which rammed into a coaster Reg.No. UAG 221P on Wednesday night on the 24th of September 2025 in Mbiko village along Jinja-Kampala Highway.
SP Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa Regional Police spokesperson says the bodies retrieved are of Wakabi Umaru 38, a boda boda rider and a resident of Naminya village, Njeru municipality in Buikwe District, Namwonge Hadija 40 a resident of Mbiko in Buikwe District who was a passenger on the motorcycle, Shafic Lubega 6 and Nasiba Taape 8 who were also passengers on the motorcycle.
SP Butoto adds that the motor cycle Reg. No. UDT 170B Bajaj Boxer red in colour was packed at Njeru Police station.
By the time of filing this story all the bodies had been taken to Jinja referral hospital for postmortem examination as investigations into the accident continue.
Relatedly, police in Buikwe has embarked on investigations into a serious accident that occurred in Sanga village Mabira Forest along Jinja-Kampala highway on 27th September 2025.
SP Hellen Butoto says that Motor Vehicle Reg. No. UBM 176D Toyota Hiace white in colour driven by a yet to be identified driver who took off after the accident heading from Kampala to Jinja upon reaching at Sanga slope in Mabira Forest developed a break failure and according to the passengers, the driver made an alarm and later swerved off to his extreme left to avoid knocking vehicles which were ahead of him.
The vehicle overturned injuring two passengers identified as Luweri Timothy 24 a resident of Iganga town and Mawanda Hussein a resident of Katwe – Kibuye Kampala city.
By press time the motor vehicle had been towed and parked at Mabira Police Station as hunting for the driver and investigations are underway.
