The assistant agriculture officer of Bumityelo Sub County in Namisindwa district has been arrested over allegations of extorting over one Million shillings from Parish Development Model Beneficiaries.
The arrest that took place on Tuesday, 30th September, 2025 follows a meeting which was held by Bosco Nabongo, the Namisindwa Assistant Resident District Commissioner at Bumityelo Sub County with hundreds of PDM beneficiaries.
During the meeting, beneficiaries revealed that since August this year up to now, they have not received their PDM money yet they each paid between 200,000/= to 300,000/= to Isaac Sebeni.
The RDC summoned Sebeni to explain before the beneficiaries why he extorted money from them yet the program is totally free.
In his response, he pleaded guilty to extorting and asked for forgiveness prompting Nabongo to order for his immediate arrest as an example to other government officers who are failing this program.
By press time, the suspect was at Namisindwa Central police station waiting to appear before Bubulo Magistrate Court to be sentenced.
