SC VILLA Protest letter

SC Villa, one of the oldest and successful soccer clubs in Uganda has protested the introduction of the new playing format calling it exploitative.

In a letter written to FUFA Chief Executive Officer, Edgar Watson, dated 1st October, 2025, SC Villa’s Chairman, Omar Ahmed Mandela says the revenue sharing changes introduced in the new season 2025/26 speak to pure exploitation and total disregard to the efforts of private individuals that work so hard to sustain some of these clubs.

“There is no justification for this introduction save for selfish financial gains by FUFA that is taking away even the little Clubs have been collecting to keep them going,” argues Mandela.

Mandela also takes a swipe at the Shs3.4 Billion injection into the Premier League this season saying it is, “a red herring to create the impression that FUFA is indeed supporting the Premier League whereas not.”

However, Mandela says that despite their displeasure with the introduced system, SC VILLA will participate in the League but “under duress.”
