The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Diaspora Campaign Taskforce has officially kicked off a comprehensive worldwide effort to mobilize Ugandans abroad in backing President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM electoral candidates as the country approaches elections. The initiative emphasizes peace, unity, and patriotism as its core values.

Speaking at a press conference in Kampala, on Saturday, 4th October, 2025, Boaz Byayesu, the Taskforce’s Head of Media and Public Relations, praised Museveni’s visionary and steadfast leadership that has ensured national stability and transformative development in Uganda over decades. His contributions to peace, poverty reduction, and infrastructure were hailed as life-enhancing for millions of Ugandans both at home and abroad.

Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, NRM Secretary General, was acknowledged for his exceptional leadership in maintaining party discipline, cohesion, and grassroots mobilization during this crucial election period, which the Taskforce said strengthens NRM’s electoral prospects.

The Taskforce’s esteemed patrons, Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi and Major Rtd. Awich Pollar, were credited with steering the diaspora engagement agenda with strategic guidance and tireless dedication, providing a solid platform for success.

Key diaspora leaders including former Uganda North America Association presidents Henreitta Nairuba and Gakwavu Susan, Joyce Bazaraki, health advocate Moses Mulimira, and five Presidential aides; SPA Bagonza Muhammad & SPA Moses Byaruhanga highlight the inclusive and serious nature of this campaign.

The Taskforce is committed to fostering inclusivity among Ugandans abroad, urging rejection of divisive politics and promoting a shared vision for peace, stability, and development. Its regional coordinators reflect Uganda’s geographic diversity to ensure broad diaspora participation.

With the introduction of dual citizenship, improved consular services, and encouragement for Ugandans near borders to return home and vote, the campaign seeks to enhance voter turnout and diaspora engagement.

Leadership of the Taskforce includes SPA Philip Kakuru (Chairperson) and a strong steering committee overseeing specialized teams for mobilization, media, women/youth, legal affairs, health, manifesto management, and regional coordination.

To boost visibility and outreach, the campaign will deploy over 50 branded vehicles, distribute thousands of yellow T-shirts, and employ digital engagement tools across continents.

Leaders emphasized unity and positive narratives, describing Museveni as “the father of the nation,” and called on diaspora Ugandans to deliver an overwhelming electoral mandate exceeding 85 percent.

The Taskforce closes by reiterating its pledge to build a united front championing peace, patriotism, and national development, urging all Ugandans abroad—especially those near neighboring countries—to actively participate in securing Uganda’s prosperous future under Museveni’s leadership.
