Police in Iganga has spoken on allegations of sabotaging opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential Candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s rally in Iganga Municipality on Friday 3rd October, 2025.

According to Busoga North Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Michael Kasadha, Kyagulanyi was scheduled to hold rallies in both Mayuge and Iganga districts on Friday as per the Electoral Commission program.

ASP Kasadha says that the rally in Mayuge was successfully held but on their way to Iganga, Candidate Kyagulanyi and his group were advised to follow the agreed-upon route to Iganga Municipality and specifically to Namungalwe grounds to which they didn’t agree,

They opted to take an alternative route where they encountered our cutoffs by security officers and consequently, they decided to head to Jinja City and cancelled their campaign in Iganga.

“We urge him and his team to adhere to security guidelines to ensure smooth and peaceful campaigns.” Said ASP Kasadha.
