MBALE CITY
Police in Mbale city on Monday, 20th October, 2025 arrested a Boda Boda rider over allegations of rape and stealing money of a vegetable seller.
The suspect has been identified as Denis Padde, a 30 year old resident of Bwibere village, Mugiti Sub County in Budaka District.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the incident happened at Doko Nsambya cell, Doko Ward, Industrial Division in Mbale city on the 20th /10/2025 at around 7:00AM.
He says it’s alleged that Pudde followed the victim when she was going to the garden, raped and robbed her of her hard earned Shs70,000.
Taitika adds that on the fateful morning, while the victim was on her way to the garden to harvest green vegetables for sele, the Pudde came on his motorcycle and requested to give her a lift but she refused.
He says the suspect decided to follow her up to the garden where she was going, parked his motorcycle ahead of her, and allegedly grabbed her, and picked her Shs70,000 before raping her while she was making an alarm.
The alarm attracted locals nearby who arrested him while trying to run away adding that the statement of the victim and witnesses were recorded.
The victim was examined and has been put on PEP.
