Police has arrested 41 suspects that were involved in assaults and looting of people’s property that occurred in Gulu City Centre on 6th December 2025, during a campaign visit by the NUP Presidential candidate, Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu.

According to a statement issued by Regional Police Spokesperson, Aswa-Gulu, Mudong Ongom David today, Thursday, 18th December, 2025, the arrests were facilitated by careful analysis of CCTV Cameras.

He says through the analysis of CCTV footage and other intelligence networks, the Police conducted a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation on the night of 18th December 2025 in Gulu City and its surrounding suburbs. As a result of this operation, 41 suspects were arrested and are currently being detained at Gulu Central Police Station (CPS).

Among those arrested is Aleng Fatuma, who is alleged to have led the mobilization of the suspected criminal gangs using various media platforms, including TikTok, among others. Operations are ongoing to ensure that all accomplices are identified and apprehended.

Ongom says that as earlier promised, all individuals found culpable will either be summoned or arrested in accordance with the law.

“We urge the general public, especially the people of Acholi Sub-region, to remain calm as we remain committed to ensuring that all those responsible are brought to book so that justice prevails,” Ongom says.
