A 70-year-old woman identified as Namaje Elegance has been killed in a hit-and-run accident on December 30, 2025, at around 6:00 AM in Kakoro rural, Butebo District.
According to Fredrick Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the victim, a pedestrian, was crossing the road to her son’s home when a speeding red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (Reg UFF 743J) knocked her down.
He says she died shortly after being rushed to Mbale Hospital for medical attention. The rider is still at large.
Police visited the scene, took statements from eyewitnesses, and are investigating. The body is at Mbale Main Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
